Placeholder glossary

Every {{placeholder}} you can use in emails, sequences, broadcasts, quotes and automations.

Placeholders are words in double curly brackets that are swapped for real details when something is sent. Type them exactly as shown, brackets included. Capitals don't matter.

Emails, email templates and sequences

Where: Email templates (Settings › Email templates), the email composer and sequence steps.

Placeholder What it becomes
{{contact.first_name}} Contact first name
{{contact.name}} Contact full name
{{contact.email}} Contact email
{{contact.job_title}} Contact job title
{{organization.name}} Organization name
{{opportunity.title}} Opportunity title
{{opportunity.value}} Opportunity value
{{me.first_name}} Your first name
{{me.name}} Your full name
{{me.email}} Your email
  • If a contact is missing a value, the composer warns you before sending, and a sequence stops for that contact with a note rather than sending a gap.
  • Older names still work: {{person.first_name}} is the same as {{contact.first_name}}, and {{deal.title}} the same as {{opportunity.title}}.

Broadcasts (email marketing)

Where: The subject and body of a broadcast.

Placeholder What it becomes
{{first_name}} Contact's first name
{{name}} Contact's full name
{{email}} Contact's email
{{job_title}} Contact's job title
{{company}} Their organization's name (same as {{organization.name}})
{{me.first_name}} Sender's first name
{{me.name}} Sender's full name
  • Add a fallback after a bar for contacts without a value: {{first_name|there}} becomes "there" when the first name is missing.

Where: The cover note, footer and terms of a quote template (Settings › Quotes).

Placeholder What it becomes
{{quote.number}} Quote number, e.g. Q-0012
{{quote.title}} Quote title

{{quote.valid_until}} Valid until
{{quote.subtotal}} Subtotal (before tax)

{{company.name}} Your company name
{{company.details}} Your company details (address, ABN)
{{rep.name}} Rep's name

  • Unknown placeholders are left as typed so mistakes are easy to spot in the preview.
